With the internet, nobody knows who's who. Actually-that's not true-everybody can be identified through the internet. This is done through the IP address. How can I look up my ip address, you ask. Here is a quick guide.

Boot up your computer and make sure you can connect to the internet. Click the windows key to bring up the start menu. Scroll through the programs menu to find the command prompt. Double click it to find the black window.

Type in the command "ipconfig" to bring up a list of your ip addresses. IP addresses are internet protocol addresses that identify your internet line. All IPs are registered to a certain ISP, internet service provider, and they can provide information on who is in possession of what IP address.

Company IP Address Management Needs Overhaul

2011.01.20

Changing trends have made it essential for Companies to ditch older IP address management techniques for newer ones. This trend is said to boost business for Infoblox, the market leader in IP address management, and positively affect the businesses of Bluecat Networks as well as Vital tool owned by ALU.
Industry experts have revealed that three major trends are making it crucial for Companies to focus on the IP address management component in their network management strategy. First is the consumerization of IT, which has increased the number of IP enabled devices used per person. Second is the progression of the data center to virtualization. And the third is the speed at which IT now needs to operate. The old way of manually allocating, managing and troubleshooting IP problems needs to be replaced with an automated IP address management solution using a different set of tools.
